Student achievement celebrated at Prize Day assembly
The Sept. 8 Prize Day assembly saw a multitude of students receive awards, ties, plaques, medals, and books earned in the spring 2022 term.
It was First Dress all around as the Upper School filled the seats in Ketchum Auditorium to celebrate student success for boys who were in Grades 9 to 11 last year.
The reading of the land acknowledgement started the assembly, followed by a greeting from Head of School Kevin McHenry. He welcomed all the new boys along with new faculty and staff, plus extended a greeting to the First Cygnets who kicked off the inaugural year of St. Anne’s School with an outdoor education exclusion.
The next speaker was Head Prefect Tinaye Ngorima, who revealed the theme for the school year: Amplify. Throughout the year there will be sub-themes focusing on specific traits, such as courage, perseverance, and kindness.
Tinaye said the first theme will acknowledge the development of St. Anne's. “The first sub-theme of the year will be Amplify Community, and the tag line will be, Two Schools, One Family.”
He also urged all students to practice saying “yes” as much as possible: yes to auditioning for the Fall Play, yes to trying out for a sports team, yes to joining a club or a band.
“Try things you’re bad at, try things you’re great at,” he advised.
