Andreans encouraged to 'break the silence' in support of Yellow Brick House
Every year, St. Andrew’s students participate in fundraising events to support surrounding communities. This year, students will be participating in the virtual Break The Silence - Step in My Shoes virtual walk to raise funds to support the services and programs offered by Yellow Brick House for women and children impacted by violence and abuse.
Throughout October, parents are invited to get involved by registering for free and creating a 2.5-kilometre course to ride, walk, roll, run, or jog.
In the upcoming weeks, students on the SAC Community Service Council are helping organize and host a Nov. 7 wrap-up celebration at the Stardust Drive-In Theatre in Sharon, Ont., that will feature photos and videos submitted by participants.
Yellow Brick House’s fundraising goal is $68,000 and every $150 raised will provide a night of safety for an impacted women or child. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, there has been a 30 per cent increase in domestic violence.
Coming together now for the survivors in our community is more important than ever before.
We are committed to building a sense of belonging in our community.
By dedicating ourselves to creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment, we will foster and accept the unique individuality of each of our citizens, ensuring all members feel valued and respected.
