Home game a charm for U16 Basketball Saints

The U16 Basketball Saints faced off against UCC in the warm and safe confines of the Yuill Gymnasium.
The goal today was to fulfill the promise of defensive energy, offensive execution, and complete team basketball.
The game began with some nice action against their man defence, but the ball had a hard time finding the bottom of the net. Defensively, we moved beautifully and gave no access to the paint in our GAP defense.
Despite not having too much success, UCC could see we were getting good looks against their man D and switched to zone. This then caused us to jack up the first shot we saw for the last three minutes of the quarter, and that didn’t go well. Despite that, we ended the quarter up 10-8.
In the second quarter our offensive execution was excellent against the zone and we scored easy buckets with great unselfish ball movement. At the half we felt good about our play and that all players had shared the floor in the half. The score stood at 25-15 SAC.
The second half was more of the same and our offensive execution was outstanding. Great ball movement and unselfish basketball by all ten players allowed us to extend the lead and the roll never stopped. Great rebounding, great court vision, and good execution was on consistent display. A few defensive lapses in the third, but overall a great team performance where everyone contributed.
Final score: SAC 63 UCC 36
