Great defensive effort for U16 Basketball Saints
It was a great match for the U16 Basketball team versus local rival Villanova.
Coach Jeff LaForge inspired his troops to play full-court pressure defence and get out and run. Defensively the boys were completely engaged. After an initially slow start in set offense, the boys took full advantage of the opportunity to run our new “away” set and found AJ Nichols for dump down buckets and 15 first-half points.
All eleven players made great contributions and took advantage of their opportunities with nine of eleven players getting on the scoresheet by halftime.
At the half Coach Courtney Shrimpton subbed in at the scoring table allowing Kade Hennessy to step into a uniform and make his U16 debut. Kade was injured before tryouts but has served ably as our manager and sometimes timer/scorer all year.
Adorned in his SAC White, with borrowed shoes, Kade brought the heat and decided he was a “volume Shooter” accumulating five points as the bench went crazy cheering him on.
There were great opportunities for all players to execute at both ends and to have a lot of fun.
