SAC's two CISAA Curling teams hosted two teams from Crestwood Preparatory College Wednesday at our home, Bradford Curling Club.
New Skip Kevin Kuan made his debut, together with Charles Huang (played competitive last year), Kevin Tang (new to competition), and William Le Boeuf (team alternate last year).
Despite demonstrating a keen eye for strategy, Kevin had one scored against him in the first, but quickly learned from mistakes and began to accurately read the ice, roaring back to take nine points over the next five ends and shutting out CPC for the rest of the game.
William's consistency in putting guards out and coming around them to the house was impressive. Kevin Tang's ability to run accurate take-outs was excellent. Charles' constant strategic discussion as a team veteran was invaluable. Skip Kuan's steady leadership, strong strategic decisions, and shot-making was the final ingredient needed to secure this win with confidence and humility. Well done, lads!
Hale Lee made his debut as the skip of the Boys Division SAC team. After a blank first end that demonstrated some skill by the CPC back end (Skip-Vice), Hale took nine points over the course of the next three ends to establish a strong lead.
CPC maintained their composure, despite the large gap that Team Lee had opened up, taking two back in the fifth. SAC finished the job with a single in the sixth. Skip Lee was a solid decision-maker, leading his team with composure and confidence. Vice Jacob Crocker was an excellent sounding board for the skip, making suggestions for strategic moves all along the way.
Tim Guo made an energetic start and fought through many hard sweep efforts to make a significant contribution to the team's success. Harry Zhao was a stalwart lead and hardworking sweeper. Great job, boys.
