A number of SAC students volunteered at the annual Terry Fox run this past weekend in Aurora.
While earning community service hours, our boys enthusiastically help with various tasks such as handing out food and water, directing participants on the trail, and awarded hi-fives at the top of the “big hill.”
Janet Delong, an event organizer, sent an email to thank the School for sending so many “fantastic volunteers,” noting the red SAC shirts were a great touch.
“The invitation is always open for your students and I truly hope this relationship continues. You should be very proud of them,” said Ms. Delong.
The event raised $17,532 for the Terry Fox Foundation. According to Terry Fox.org, runs take place in over 9,000 communities across Canada every year and are accessible to anyone in a non-competitive atmosphere. This year’s run was the 36th annual and since they began more than $700-million has been raised in Terry’s name.
On Friday morning, there will be a Terry Fox full-school assembly followed by a Middle School run.
