The Alpine team faced chilly and icy conditions at Craigleith February 8 for their fourth race of the season.
U14 - 1st Place.
The U14 team had a simply fantastic day. While most teams struggled to finish half of their racers on the challenging slalom course, nine of the 10 SAC racers were able to complete the course without incident. Ryan and Lucas Henderson once again proved they are the class of the league, finishing 1st and 4th respectively. A huge shout out also has to go to Kieran Walters who had a breakthrough day finishing 3rd. The team now sits in sole position of 1st place as they enter into their final championship race next week.
Level 1 (School Trained) Team - 1st Place
The Level 1 boys had their backs against the wall today needing a win keep their OFSAA hopes alive. They, like the U14s, came to race today, and eight of 10 of our racers were able to safely navigate what would prove to be the most difficult course of the year (20 of the 55 racers today either did not finish or were disqualified for missing a gate). Charlie Elliott led the charge with an excellent 2nd place finish followed by Tony Sul (4th), and Cooper Scullion-Smeenk (7th). With the win, the Level 1 team is once again tied for first in the league as it heads into the championship race next week.
Level 2 (Open Trained) Team - 3rd Place
We knew that today would be a challenge given we were missing our two top skiers in this division. Despite this, however, the remaining racers, led by Hunter Appelbe (4th), were up to the challenge and had fantastic morning runs. Some small miscues in the second run caused us to slip back, however, and we finished 3rd on the day. Despite this result, this team remains tied in 1st place heading into the championships next week.
