An Andrean Christmas brings seasonal joy

On Thursday, December 14, in front of a packed Roy Thomson Hall, the students of St. Andrew’s College took to the iconic stage in their annual holiday concert. From the opening act with Grade 5 toy soldiers to the resounding finale, when all the voices joined together in O Come, All Ye Faithful, the evening radiated with exceptional talent and the spirit of the season.

The stage came alive with enthralling performances by the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pipes & Drums, Middle School Band, Symphonic Band, and SAC Choir. They were joined by a few students from St. Anne’s School (SAS). Peppered throughout were dramatic performances from the SAC & SAS Dramatic Society. The joke-telling elves had the audience in stitches.

A highlight was the rousing applause given to Grade 12 SAC student Will Brothers and Grade 9 SAS student Idara Udom for their mesmerizing duet of Hallelujah. And the unexpected musical detour, Stairway to Heaven, sung by Kevin McHenry, Head of School, added a special surprise.

In a touching display of unity and brotherhood, Old Boys joined students on stage to sing Amazing Grace and the Dorset Carol, which Mr. John Clements claims was the best yet. It was particularly emotional for the Prefects and graduating students, linked arm-in-arm, to realize this was their last Andrean Christmas as students.

Every facet of art had its place in the show, with visual art showcased in the program and on the screens, compliments of our masterful artists in Middle and Upper Schools.
