Health Care Coordinator

We invite applications for a Health Care Coordinator with the St. Andrew's College Summer Camp.  The camp runs from July 2nd, 2024 and ends August 16th, 2024 Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.  Training and preparation will begin on a part-time basis June 22nd, 2024.
 
The Health Care Coordinator will be responsible for the overall health and safety of campers and staff as well as overseeing the camp’s health programming and policies.  As the key health professional for the camp, the Health Care Coordinator will provide training to camp staff regarding Health Centre policies and procedures, will administer first aid and dispense medications and will liaise with parents on camper health needs.
 
The main responsibilities include:
 
  • Developing and executing the overall health program and policies for the camp
  • Developing and delivering training to camp staff
  • Overseeing the health and safety of campers and staff, including administering first aid, dispensing medication, handling emergency situations
  • Accompanying sick or injured campers or staff to medical attention
  • Responding to health related enquires and performing the role of point person for parents, staff, campers  
  • Purchasing, inventorying, and storing first aid and medical supplies
  • Completing and maintaining all health-related documentation
  • Liaising with medical professionals as necessary 
 
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse with current First Aid and CPR certifications and a desire to work with children. Minimum requirement is the completion of two years of nursing school. Practical and professional experience is preferred. Candidates must illustrate knowledge of health care standards, emerging issues and best practices for the development and delivery of health and safety programs, particularly as related to children and youth, as well as knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations.
