SAC students find success at DECA provincials

This past weekend, the SAC DECA chapter sent a team of 11 to compete in the provincial competition against thousands of Ontario's best business students at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.

With the recent success of the regional competition still in their minds, the boys continued the trend and brought home six medals and one qualification to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jalen Gu earned a medal for receiving an exam score in the Top 15 for his event (Entrepreneurship).

Allen Hu won three medals and placed in the Top 12 overall for his event (Restaurant and Food Service Management).

Steven Du brought home two medals and placed in the Top 10 overall for his event (Hotel and Lodging Management) earning a spot to compete with DECA Ontario at ICDC for the second year in a row.
Each event roughly had 120 competitors, which means each of the boys earned a spot within the top 10 per cent.
I would like to personally thank the current DECA executive team for all the time and dedication they gave to the team. Our chapter would not have experienced this success without your hard work. Thank you to Steven Du, Jalen Gu, Kevin Kuan, and Hale Lee.
The provincials were attended by more than 7,500 high school students for three days of competition and professional development. Through conferences and competitions, DECA instils professionalism and prepares youth to respond to authentic business cases and market demands.
