Saints Curling teams ended up in both the win and loss columns in their Monday afternoon games at Leaside Curling Club.
On Leaside's Sheet A, Team Kuan (Kevin Kuan, William Le Boeuf, Charles Huang, Eddie Hao) went up against an experienced team from Havergal College in a game that would decide the top two positions in their division. Havergal took an early lead with three points in the first end as the Saints adjusted to the ice conditions. Lots of sweeping put many later SAC stones in contention, forcing Havergal to play a defensive game with reliance on take-outs. The outcome of many ends came down to the final few rocks, with Havergal slowly pulling ahead for an 8-1 win. Their 3-1 record puts Team Kuan currently at second place in the CISAA Open Division.
Beside them on Sheet B, Team Lee (Hale Lee, Jacob Crocker, Tim Guo, Harry Zhao) took on The York School in a Boys Division game. These rival teams split the first two ends with a single point each. After adjusting to the speed of the ice, good teamwork and communication on the ice along with good draws and guards helped the Saints gain one or two points end-by-end. A winning score of 6-1 puts Team Lee currently at the top of the CISAA Boys Division with a 3-2 record.
Despite the mixed results, all players and coaches were encouraged and motivated by the presence of the Ontario Men's Tankard trophy that had been won just the day before by Team Epping from the Leaside Curling Club.
