May 10 was “scramble day,” an annual event known as the Bears Classic and the third in the CISAA golf season.
The boys travelled to Dalewood Golf Club in Coburg and were ready, once again, to perform in teams of two against seven other schools. The course was in decent shape considering it had been drenched with rain and closed for the previous four days.
Our top team battled with some strange wind, known as the "Port Hope Breeze", but the other groups fared just fine. Hunter Kolm personified steady on this day, while Andrew Kraik played most of his round with earplugs. In the end, Prefect-elect Austin Brett and Michael von Schalburg were SAC's best golfers, helping the seniors to secure second place overall.
The Junior boys played very well again this week, coming in fourth overall – only 4 strokes behind the first place team.
Up next, Will McHenry returns to the lineup, as we return to the placid beauty of Shanty Bay for the second last tourney of the year.
