Two SAC Grade 12 students receive Give Back Award

Magna International’s Neighbourhood Network announced its recipients of the Give Back Award for students who have demonstrated significant contributions to their school communities and their communities as a whole. Among the winners were two St. Andrew’s Grade 12 students, Spencer Thomson and David Buckley. Spencer and David have acted as champions of charity within the community, amassing 227 hours and 107 hours of community service, respectively.
Spencer has attended SAC since Grade 6 and has participated in an array of volunteer opportunities during his time as a student. He is a current member of the Community Service Council and has demonstrated a tremendous passion for supporting the local community. His favourite volunteer event is the annual Terry Fox Run because it allows him and his friends to aid in a meaningful way for an important cause.
David has been an inspired volunteer since the age of 10. He attributes his motivation for volunteering to the values his mom instilled in him at a young age. At SAC, he has supported the Yellow Brick House, the Aurora Arboretum, and several other community service initiatives. David is hoping to continue his commitment to community service upon graduation.
Erin Cerenzia, the manager of community relations for Neighbourhood Network, states, “the impact these students have had on their peers and the community at large is inspiring.”
The SAC community is very proud of these recognized achievements and all community service efforts put forth by students.
