Momentum building for SAC Soccer with fourth straight win

On Wednesday, St. Andrew’s College 1st Soccer slipped past visiting Appleby College 2-0 to make it four straight wins and a perfect 3-0-0 start to their CISAA league schedule.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Saints finally broke the game open on the counter. Goalkeeper Ronan Woodroffe ’22 found Ali Gharib ’22 in behind the defence and the crafty winger found the far post for his sixth goal in six games. Gharib also snagged an assist just five minutes late, with a cut-back to Jaxon Cover ’25 for his first goal of the campaign.

Last week, Owen Bradbury ’22 had a pair of game-winning goals from 25 yards out to lead the Saints to a 2-0 road win at Ridley College and a hard-fought 1-0 Homecoming victory over Upper Canada College. At Ridley, it was Marcus Marek Tortorella ’23 who opened his account with SAC’s second goal.

The Saints have yet to concede in league play behind the leadership of Woodroffe and Adam Mallalieu ’22 in goal, alongside senior centre back Ethan Hart ’22.

The momentum is building for 2021 St. Andrew’s College Soccer!
