Campus comes alive as school year kicks off in person

The driveway sign welcoming students to school this week says it all: “The boys are back in town!”
After a year of lockdowns, online learning, and a lack of personal connections, St. Andrew’s College is looking forward to a great school year. The pandemic continues to evolve, and the number of cases ebb and flow, but our approach to keeping our school community safe and free of the virus is giving hope that the year will be as normal as possible.
As families arrived on campus this week, they were sure to notice the new driveway banners celebrating our return to in-person learning. The banners feature inspirational words that have carried us through the last 18 months and remind us that we are stronger when we are together.
We have a full enrolment of 648 students – 254 boarders and 394 day students. The Middle School has 179 students, while the Upper School has 469.
On Sunday, we welcomed 130 of our student-athletes back to begin training camps, along with Upper School House leaders and Mac House Council members.
New Family Orientation Day for new boys and their families was hosted on Tuesday; on Wednesday, we hosted an orientation day for boys entering Grades 5-8 and their families. We welcomed 154 new boys during these first two days.
On Thursday, we officially opened with assemblies staggered by cohort in Ketchum Auditorium. First Dress was required for opening day, but we are back to Warm Weather dress until Thanksgiving.
A reminder for parents to watch for A Look Ahead each Friday when it arrives in your inbox. It contains all the information you need for the week and months ahead. If you need to refer back to an issue, you can find them here on the SAC website. If you haven’t received a copy of the newsletter yet, then you aren’t on our mailing list, so contact Sharen Turner to be added.
