Cadet Inspection 2021 goes virtual in 116th year

The Cadet Inspection is the highlight of the Cadet training year, and this year it is available to Andreans around the world.

Maj. Brian McCue, Commanding Officer of the #142 Highland Cadet Corps at St. Andrew's College, invites the Andrean community to watch this video version of the 116th annual Cadet Inspection. It is a recognition of the efforts of all Cadets for a job well done and a celebration of special achievements through the presentation of our awards and trophies.

The Cadet program was established in 1905 and has evolved into a broad-based spectrum of leadership training that teaches teamwork and recognizes both individual and group achievement.

The video presentation highlights the outgoing senior leaders, who will introduce the new Cadet leadership for the 2021-2022 training year. The senior Cadets have given their best effort to don their kilts and scarlets one last time, a testament to their loyalty and commitment after a challenging year.

Normally, the event would start in Memorial Chapel, then the musical tattoo with the Pipes & Drums and musical ensembles would perform in front of hundreds of guests. Following this, nearly 400 Cadets would march with the Pipes & Drums in their Gordon tartan kilts and scarlet tunics.

This year, the event went virtual, and Maj. McCue offers a special thanks to Cadet LCol Braeden Donnelly '21, who spearheaded the production of this presentation. Maj. McCue said the Cadet Headquarters team deserves special mention for training safely during a global pandemic, starting to plan for the school year in August 2020.
