Alpine Ski Team earn CISAA medals en route to OFSAA

With undoubtedly their best performance of the year, the U14 Saints skied to a 3rd place overall finish despite missing two of their top five racers due to injury for the last couple of weeks.

Watching this group of inexperienced racers learn and develop has been truly incredible, and the fact that they were able to knock a relatively experienced team from SMCS off the podium is a testament to their dedication and effort to improve in all of our training sessions. Congratulations on a fantastic result!

Our Level 1 (High School Trained) racers only needed a 2nd place finish to clinch the CISAA title and an OFSAA birth. Their near flawless skiing earned them the win and ultimately secured them the CISAA Championship. On top of their outstanding team finish, four of our top five racers captured individual CISAA awards based on their collective finishes this season: Cole Lapshinoff (2nd), Sebastian Murphy Ives (4th), Kieran Walters (5th), and Ian Hilgendorff (6th). This team will undoubtedly be a front-runner in the OFSAA Championships if they continue to ski as they have over the last five weeks.

Unfortunately, we were only able to field two Level 2 racers today, which precluded them from earning "team" points. Despite this, these racers were not dissuaded, and both skied hard to finish off their year on a high note. Lucas Henderson stood 4th after his first run, but he could not stay on course during his second and ultimately was disqualified. Ryan Henderson did not have the same amount of success in his first run as his brother. Still, his solid second run moved him up the standing significantly, earning him a 5th place finish on the day, and ultimately 5th place overall based on his cumulative results for the season.
