Alpine Ski team perform well at Mansfield Ski Club
In our penultimate race of the season, the Alpine ski team travelled to Mansfield to attack a couple of challenging slalom courses.
Due to a recent rash of injuries, the U14 team was quite shorthanded and only able to muster a 4th place finish. It did not, however, take away from strong results by our top finishers as Kyle Kenopic (13th), and Hugh Murray (22nd) fared very well on the long 40+ gate slalom course. Hopefully, with a week to heal before our championship race, the U14's will be able to regroup and make a strong push towards a podium team finish on the season.
Our Level One (school trained) racers continued to dominate the field with another convincing team victory. They did so even though two of the five top-ranked skiers did not qualify, as they were unable to finish their second run. Kieran Walters once again set himself apart from all other slalom racers in the league after winning the race by approximately 2 seconds over the nearest competitor...SAC's Cole Lapshinoff! Another full second then separated Cole from the 3rd place finisher. Sebastian Murphy Ives rounded out the top three for SAC by finishing 6th.
A fantastic couple of runs by Lucas Henderson earned him a well-deserved 5th place finish in the Level Two (club trained) division. The run of the day, however, went to Ryan Henderson, who finished 3rd just behind some genuinely amazing racers from Royal St. George's College (RSGC) and Trinity College Schoolm (TCS). Unfortunately, Ryan did not finish his first run, so he did not qualify in the race rankings. There were some great moments, but Level Two finished as a team in 6th place on the day.
