Big week for new-boy Kuri, capped by weekend triple
The St. Andrew's College 1st Soccer Team extended their winning streak to six games, with two more victories this past week. Leading the way was new-boy Eduardo Kuri ’23, who buried three goals on Homecoming weekend.
On Saturday, the floodgates opened in the 5th-minute as Geoffrey Ogenrwot ’21 curled-in a picture-perfect goal from 22 yards out -- and the Saints were off to races and a 7-2 win over visiting Lansing Catholic (MI).
Kuri (pictured) was next to get on the scoreboard and he had three before the match was 60 minutes old. Mark Hillier ’20, Ali Abubakar Gharib '22 and Ian Hilgendorff ’21 had singles for SAC.
On Wednesday, the Saints kept their lead atop the CISAA standings with a 7-1 victory over St. Michael’s College. Gharib and Kuri got SAC off to a fast start, before St. Mike’s closed the gap to 2-1 midway through the first half.
Senior Cole Galata ‘20 restored SAC’s two-goal cushion before halftime, with Jan Hofmeister ‘22, Hilgendorff and Hillier adding insurance markers late.
The SAC First Team has a busy week of league action ahead of them, hitting the road for three matches, starting Monday at Crescent School.
