St. Andrew’s College began its 121st year this week, its 93rd in the Town of Aurora, when we welcomed new and returning students for another wonderful academic year.
The College is in a great position, with full enrolment of 657 students – 260 boarders and 397 day students. The Middle School has 179 students, while the Upper School has 480.
When families drove onto campus this week, they were sure to notice the new driveway banners, which this year represent the sciences in celebration of our Appeal for Science and Technology. They were also sure to notice a few changes to the campus, including the hoarding off of our main Reception area as construction crews work to enhance McLaughlin Hall.
Doors opened on Tuesday, Sept. 3, with New Family Orientation Day (NFOD) for new boys entering Grades 9, 10, and 11 and their families. The next day, the School welcome new boys entering Grades 5 through 8 and their families. We welcomed a total of 169 new boys during these first two days.
The first day of classes started Thursday, Sept. 5 and began with a full-school assembly and for Upper School students a celebration of the academic achievements of students from the spring term.
Things happen quickly around St. Andrew’s, so we remind you to check the School website regularly for event information and Edsby for your son’s academic and co-curricular schedules. Mark Thursday, Sept. 12 in your calendar for our annual Back-to-School Reception at the Head’s house beginning at 7 p.m.; Homecoming is Saturday, Sept. 28; and a school favourite, An Andrean Christmas at Roy Thomson Hall, happens Friday, Dec. 13.
