A few great wins by 1st Squash

First Squash members are showing a lot of improvement and we saw some great wins yesterday by Caden McHenry, Charlie McDonald, Ryan Sutherland-Pace, and Jason Garner (called up from U16).
UCC continues to be the dominant team this season with multiple provincially and nationally ranked players. Crescent School, the second-place team, showed some weakness. Our guys played much better than a few weeks ago.
Caden versus the Crescent #1 was an exciting match. Caden would just not quit competing and while his opponent had technically better strokes and could hit harder, Caden was willing to work harder and make smarter shots. After being down in the first game 0-6, Caden came back to win 11-6! Then he went on to win the next two games and the match 3-0.
Charlie was simply on in every respect in his match, disposing of his opponent 3-0 with better shot combinations, mixing up the pace, and better placement.
Ryan has been completely remodeling his game by focusing on his footwork, shot selection, and attack. It all came together, and he looked completely relaxed in the final and deciding fifth game that he won convincingly.
Jason was playing a bigger, stronger, and faster player but he was willing to work hard to neutralize every advantage his opponent had and to hit a wider variety of shots and mix up the pace, winning in the fifth game 14-12 after being down 3-6 and facing two match balls at 11-10 and 12-11. A gutsy win.
