Rugby Saints in action this summer

This past weekend, five members of the 2018 Rugby Saints travelled to the University of Guelph as members of the Ontario U18 Jr. Blues rugby team to play in a cross-border series against the Eagle Impact Rugby Academy from the U.S.
The action began on Thursday, July 26 with a commanding 47-12 win for the Jr. Blues. On Saturday, they followed that up with another victory with a final score of 31-22.
The Jr. Blues roster is made up of 24 players from across Ontario. The Saints were well represented thanks to recent grads, Angus Austgarden, Ian Maclean, Matthew Hollett, and current student, Will Abbott.
The game played on Saturday, July 28 can be viewed here.
Also in rugby news, Campbell Clarke ’19 will join 37 players from across the country at Canada’s selection camp for the national team that will compete for the 2018 Junior World Rugby Trophy in Brazil this September. The camp will be held at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island, Aug. 14-23.
Earlier in July, Campbell impressed coaches with a strong showing at the U19 Canadian Rugby Championship in Saskatoon, SK, helping earn him an invite to the selection camp. Campbell will enter camp a member of Canada’s Men’s U20 team that will play British Columbia’s U23 team on Aug. 19 to decide the final squad of 26 that will represent Canada in Brazil. Congratulations, Campbell!
