SAC talent in the spotlight at Focus 2018

This year’s stellar crop of student actors, artists, and musicians will take centre stage at Focus–A Celebration of The Arts, running May 2-4 on campus.
To get a taste of what’s happening during Focus, check out this one-minute promotional trailer produced by William Scoular. The video is sure to generate excitement for the 29th annual festival. You can also check out student-created posters for some of the plays here.
Focus is always highly anticipated and reinforces the fact that arts at SAC play a powerful and necessary role in the education of our students. Please see the full schedule here. This year, the music component has been kicked into high gear. Check out the music component of Focus here.
In the Staunton Gallery, there will be a community painting project, heading by artist Gerry Lantaigne. Everyone – boys, family members, guests – can add their brushstrokes to the reproduction of Snow II, by Canadian artist, and SAC Old Boy, Lawren Harris, a member of the Group of Seven.
During the three-day festival, Staunton Gallery will be turned into an art gallery with pieces on display from students in every grade along with Student DJs to spin tunes during the evening hours.
Friday Night Finale
An evening of fun and entertainment is planned for the Friday night finale, May 4. Family and friends are invited to an upscale BBQ in Cole Hall starting at 5:30 p.m., accompanied by the cool sounds of the Upper School Jazz Band. Then at 6:15 p.m., the entertainment begins, starting with a viewing of the School’s new five-minute video, then a Celtic Extravaganza with the Pipes & Drums in the Wirth Theatre, followed by Upper School theatre performances.

As well throughout Friday evening, Middle and Upper School plays will be performed in the Donald Davis Theatre and the Reininger Rehearsal Room.
Live music, courtesy of the Wind Ensemble, can be enjoyed in Robert & Jilla Williams Band Room, followed up by Coffee House offerings. Staunton Gallery will also be the place to be to hear music courtesy of student DJs, starting at 7:30 p.m.
In order to plan for the BBQ, please register here for this complimentary Friday night finale.
