Residential Life Curriculum

Character education. Values. Responsibility. Emotional Courage. Tolerance. Integrity. Respect. Leadership. Citizenship. Mentoring. Collaboration. Diversity.

All of the above, form the backbone of our residential curriculum. More than just a place to sleep, work, and play, our carefully planned residential life program and curriculum is exciting and dynamic and includes an overall character-building program to help prepare students for university and beyond. Life in residence is carefully monitored by heads of house, duty supervisors, and other staff, who help to create a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.

"Learning strategies help boys ease into boarding life. In addition to helping our students improve their study skills, the various facets of the residential curriculum helps to cultivate and develop decision-making skills, leadership skills, and time-management skills," says David Galajda, Director of Residential Life and Head of Macdonald House.

Outside of the supervised and structured evening study, students are offered many leadership opportunities and can participate in a series of exciting evening activities. Students may choose to go for a swim in our supervised pool, do yoga with a certified instructor, hit the weight room, or join a spin class.

Just like you, we too are concerned about screen time. While we monitor and teach responsible use of technology, we also ensure boys unplug so they can make better use of their time, improve their study habits, and get a better night’s sleep. All students lock-up their electronic devices in electronic lock-up cubbies before lights out followed by our “drop everything and read” program so boys can unwind and have some healthy downtime before they drift off to sleep.

Through a series of leadership and club activities, sports, arts, outreach, fun events, and the Complete Weekend program, boarders enjoy a unique camaraderie and develop lifelong memories and lasting friendships.

St. Andrew’s has three Upper School boarding residences and one Middle School boarding residence. Each residence has a unique character and history of its own.

With a non-stop pace that challenges and engages boys academically, athletically, and artistically, St. Andrew’s College offers a truly, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
