SAC students run their first half marathon

This past weekend, two SAC students who normally run on the cross-country team travelled to Burlington, Ont., to run in the Chilly Half Marathon. This half marathon has about 2,500 participants and has been running for more than 20 years.

In order to prepare for this event, the boys had to endure training through a gruelling winter. Many cold runs made the "chilly" half marathon more bearable as these boys dug deep and ran with incredible focus and determination. Not only did they run a great race, but they both brought home age category medals.

Willem Grier, grade 11, earned the gold medal for his age category, finishing his half marathon in 1:34:04 (hh:mm:ss).
Michael Kurp, grade 12, earned the silver medal for his age category, finishing his half marathon in 1:34:39 (hh:mm:ss).

Congratulations to these boys on a successful and inspirational running of their first half marathon! This is a significant accomplishment and we are incredibly proud to support these boys in their fitness goals. As the triathlon season begins soon, these two SAC students have their eyes set on some personal bests this spring.
