SAC Soccer Wraps Up Preseason Outings

The 1st Soccer team went on the road again this weekend and dropped a pair of tight matches. These two non-league games were final preparations for their regular season opener at Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Saints played a dominant second half Friday night under the lights but couldn’t break down the Crescent School defence, dropping a 1-0 decision. Senior Nathan Chin ’23 was outstanding in the middle of the park, and it was often Quintin Roy ’23 who was on Crescent’s doorstep but unable to find the breakthrough.

It was a quick turnaround on Saturday, but the Saints were still great right out of the gates at Upper Canada College. New boys Aidan Peets ’24 and Pax Cortizas ’26 linked up well in attack, with Issa Abdu ’24 (pictured) controlling the tempo and Oliver Poulos ’25 solid in the backline in his first start at centre back. SAC conceded a penalty late in the first half and simply ran out of steam in the second stanza, eventually falling 3-0 to UCC.

The Saints will get another shot at UCC this weekend, which will be the first of three league games in five days to kick off the 2022 campaign.
