Grade 12 student to host finance workshop in summer 2022

In the summer of 2021, Grade 12 student, Michael Suma, hosted his first introductory investing workshop for students interested in finance. The course was designed to provide students with a broad foundation in investing and financial markets. Michael has been investing for over two years and has been following markets for over four years. However, he remembers his earliest memory of investing principles being tied to games of Monopoly with his family.

The idea for creating the course stemmed from Michael’s initial difficulties in attempting to navigate the complexities of investing. As a result, he wanted to design a program of investment analysis and strategies that are impactful and easy to follow. The program participants learn important concepts such as the “intrinsic-value” investment approach and a step-by-step stock research analysis process. Additionally, the program incorporates several hands-on activities that supplement the content.

Last year’s workshop hosted an enthusiastic group of 15 students. The participants really enjoyed it and provided meaningful feedback to make this year’s event even better.

This summer, Michael will be hosting two sessions. Each session will operate virtually on Zoom, Monday to Friday, for two weeks from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in registering for the first session, beginning June 20, students must register before June 13.
