First Soccer Wins League Finale – Next Up, USA Tour

Last week, the First Soccer team closed out their undefeated CISAA league schedule with a 2-0 win over downtown Toronto rivals, St. Michael’s College.

The SAC Saints carried the bulk of possession for the entire 90 minutes, but were unable to break the deadlock until midway through the second half. Senior Ali Gharib ’22 (pictured) danced past a pair of St. Mike’s defenders before cutting the ball back to a charging Ronan Woodroffe ’22, who fired home from 12-yards out.

With St. Mike’s chasing the game late, Owen Bradbury ’22 headed Gharib through in the 89th minute and he slotted the ball home to secure the victory.

Next up, with the border reopening, SAC Soccer is all set to head south for the first time in 2021. The Saints will venture to Lake Placid, NY for the Northwood Invitational Showcase from November 12-14, before shifting to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals.
