SAC student makes Canadian Geographic Challenge final

Grade 9 student, Jared Reinemo, has qualified for the national finals of the Canadian Geographic Challenge.

The news was announced with great pleasure last week by SAC's Canadian and World Studies Department.

Jared became a national finalist after placing among the Top 20 students in Canada in the online provincial/territorial round. He is looking forward to the virtual final set for May 29 and 30.

Dhruv Krishnan '15 competed in the national final in 2012 and is the only other SAC student to have done so, according to David Joiner, Head of the Canadian and World Studies Department. That year, 53 students nationwide advanced to the nationals under a different competition format.

The 2021 version is the 26th Canadian Geographic Challenge to be held and students in Grades 4-10 will be participating, whether they are attending in-person school or learning from home.

The Royal Canadian Geographical Society has been making Canada better known to Canadians and the world since it was founded in 1929. Best known for its Canadian Geographic magazine, the society also supports Canadian geographical expeditions and provides grants and scholarships for cutting-edge geographical research.
