Halloween celebrations put safety first at SAC

Our daily routines at SAC might be modified due to the pandemic, but that didn’t stop us from celebrating Halloween with sweet treats and virtual tricks.

On Wednesday, Middle School boys enjoyed Spookfest and were encouraged to dress up in costumes that allowed for protective face coverings.

Students displayed their creative spirit in a parade in their class cohorts and walked across the Ketchum Auditorium stage while their peers observed via Zoom. The boys voted on the best costume through a survey and Beric Dengler cleaned up as the winner: the Grade 8 student dressed up as “sanitizer!” Ryan Brown kicked off his Halloween haul by guessing the correct amount of candies in an urn, taking home all 223 candies.

Upper School students dressed up in costumes on Thursday, and Prefects roamed the School looking for students and staff displaying their spooky side and rewarded them with candy gifts.

The Andrean Life Council held a virtual costume competition and asked for Halloween skits to be recorded and submitted for a chance to win prizes. The competition was open to students, faculty and staff, and Heads of House. Organizers asked that social distancing and mask rules apply to participating groups. Voting for best skits will be done on Nov. 4.

Boys were also invited to a spooky Halloween movie night on Tuesday with pizza, drinks, chips, and a scary movie.

Halloween treats continued to the end of the week as the Outreach Council sold bags of candy on Friday in support of the Holiday Hero campaign.
