Tight match for U14A Soccer

The U14A Soccer Saints lost a tough home-field match Friday afternoon, giving up the winning goal off a corner kick deflection with less than a minute remaining to a determined Bayview Glen side.

Despite controlling the ball for most of the game, the boys struggled to handle a couple of speedy, highly-skilled BVG forwards who exposed them with easy shots in alone far too often.

SAC came out on top to start, scoring in the first five minutes off a perfect lob pass by central defender Charlie Guy up to striker Domingo Valdes Padilla, who buried it in the back of the net.

Much improved SAC defender Ethan Baxter made numerous important clearances to keep the shot total down. While we had good ball possession and hustled to beat our opponents to the majority of the challenges, our passing was weak, and too few good scoring opportunities were created for our forwards.

Juan Pablo Hernandez wins “man of the match.” After being taken down from behind inside the box and needing assistance off the field, he amazingly returned five minutes later, successfully asking to go back in without any complaints, only fire in his belly.

Hats off to David Rubtsov and Quintin Roy who worked tirelessly in the mid-field, winning most of their challenges and keeping pressure on our opponents.

Thank you to those parents who supported from the sidelines.

Final score: SAC 1 – BVG 2
