Our Cadets are featured not once, but twice, in the latest edition of The Falcon, the 48th Highlanders Regimental Magazine.
In the spotlight are the 56 St. Andrew’s participants in the Invictus Games. Maj. Brian McCue, Commanding Officer of the #142 Highland Cadet Corps at St. Andrew’s, penned a story of our Cadets’ contribution to the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, sick, and injured Service men and women.
The Games were held in Toronto last September. “Our Cadets, resplendent in their scarlet tunics and Gordon tartan kilts at the Air Canada Centre in downtown Toronto, had several duties. They provided an Honour guard on stage for the national anthem. They acted as escorts when the Team Captains met Prince Harry, and they were the Canadian banner carriers during the opening and closing ceremonies,” Maj. McCue writes.
In addition to coverage of our Cadets’ role in the games, space is given to three Cadets to reflect on their participation. C/Sgt Sterling Cochran, C/Sgt Mike Bahen, and C/LCpl Colton Phillips are featured. You can read their perspectives by linking to the magazine here
Also profiled in The Falcon is last November’s St. Andrew’s Remembrance Day service told in two pages of outstanding photos.
In addition, there is an address on page 5 of The Falcon from LCol Harry Pedwell (CO, 48th Highlanders), who will be our Reviewing Officer for the Annual Cadet Inspection later this month.
