A Brief History of SAC Rugby

Playing rugby at SAC makes you part of a proud and successful tradition dating back 50 years...

Playing rugby at SAC makes you part of a proud and successful tradition dating back 49 years. Beginning in Middle School, our U13 squad sets the stage with a wide open, fast running 7's league, while the U14 squad develops basic knowledge of the 10-a-side game, essential skills, and loads of fun: In either case no-one gets cut and everyone plays.

In the Upper School, the U16 team introduces players to competitive rugby with an emphasis on skill development, positional and support play. The hope is that a core group of U16 players will fall in love with this most demanding and exciting of games and will play summer rugby with one of Ontario's many excellent clubs or provincial teams.

By the 1st Team level we are looking to develop decision making and tactical skills to produce a provincially competitive team. With 23 Championship seasons in the past 56 years and regular appearances at OFSAA, our record is a testament to both the program and the commitment of the players who have come through it.

Many of our players go on to play club, university, and provincial rugby, with a few rising to even loftier heights. Something to aim for... Where do you want to take yourself?
