Full immunization against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Meningitis (ACYW), Measles, Mumps and Rubella is a requirement of all students in the Province of Ontario. Failure to provide proof of immunization will result in suspension from school. The Health Centre will update immunization, if necessary.
The Province of Ontario Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Program and the Grade 7 Hepatitis B Vaccination Program are administered by the school nurses and are provided free of charge.
- Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination: It is recommended that all students be vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis. This potentially fatal disease comes on very quickly and students can substantially reduce their risk by getting vaccinated. This is a safe and effective vaccine and will be administered by the Health Centre nurses with parental permission.
- Grade 7 Hepatitis B Vaccinations: The Hepatitis B vaccinations program consists of two injections – one in October and the second in April.
Flu shots are offered free of charge each fall and are highly recommended, especially for boarding students and those from outside of Canada.
