Not since 2003 has SAC won the CISAA Senior Golf Championship. But that changed yesterday on a beautiful but narrow Westview Golf and Country Club!
The juniors played solid throughout the season and yesterday was no different. Coming into the tournament, they were ranked 4th overall, and they were looking for some movement. Hunter Kolm led the way shooting an 80 and with other solid scores in the bank, the junior team finished the year with the bronze medal, third place overall. This was a tremendous effort and we could not be more proud of the effort these boys put in and their positive energy throughout the season.
On the senior side, the Saints were the team to beat all season long. Matty Medhurst played some of the best golf since he began playing the game scoring 82, while the other top golfers went long and scored low – Michael von Schalburg with a 77, Will McHenry with 79, Andrew Kraik 79. They needed consistent scores and that is exactly what they achieved. Perhaps most importantly, though, this team, like the junior squad, also had a tremendous amount of fun and truly enjoyed the season. In the end, with three scores in the 70s, and one in the low 80s, the Saints held their own in dominating fashion.
When St. Andrew's College was bellowed out by the league convener, they walked slowly but proudly to receive their medals and the plaque.
What a tournament win and what a great season. Congratulations to the bronze medal winning Junior Boys team and the Varsity Golf team, the CISAA Champions.
