Baseball is like a box of chocolates

The U12 Softball team met up with our local rivals Country Day School May 10.
The boys were excited to play them and show who was tops in the region. With many friends on the other team, Brennan Mangat started on the mound and went through the lineup for three innings with ease. He was consistent and efficient. Offensively, we had some big hits from Jack Cordingley, Luke Faris, and Ethan Thomas.
The memory of the game happened in the third inning when James Coppola managed to get on first base with a close play at first. But that was not enough for James (or our student coaches who told him to take second). He ran to second base and with a little will (and a lot of confusion), James was not he continued to run.

Again, it looked like he might be out. But guess what? There was a missed tag at third, not an overthrow. Once again, James ran, just like Forrest Gump, and headed home beating the throw. If anything can be called a little-league homerun, this is it. But hey, baseball is like a box of chocolates...
Final score: SAC 9 - CDS 2
Up next: Monday, May 15 vs. Crescent School
