Gracias to the boys in Claudio Numa’s grade 11 Spanish class who provided a delicioso lunch this week.
Claudio invited some lucky staff and faculty members to the Lower Kitchen to be judges as the boys cooked and served wonderful Hispanic dishes, all the while practicing their Spanish language skills.
The kitchen was filled with the aroma of savoury chicken and steak sizzling in pans on the stove; colourful peppers and pungent onions being sliced on a cutting board; and upbeat Latin music played in the background.
The boys were paired up for their culinary presentations and were graded on language skills in addition to food presentation and taste. While the presentations were good, the food was amazing! We feasted on quesadilla al pollo y tocino, sandwich Cubano, ropa vieja, empañadas, and platano fritos con helado y dulce de leche.
In case that wasn’t enough to eat, Executive Chef, Davide Pontone, provided a shrimp and chorizo paella as well as a tray of scrumptious churros that quickly disappeared.
This was truly a five-star meal experience. Felicidades, chicos!
