It was a fantastic day for the #142 St. Andrew's College Highland Cadet Corps Sunday as they held their annual Church Parade in Aurora.
The Wind Ensemble performed prior to the Cadet march from Aurora Town Park to Trinity Anglican Church for a service. This is the first of three events that form the ceremonial calendar for the Cadet Corps. Rounding out the events are The Headmaster’s Parade this afternoon and the Cadet Inspection on Saturday.
The Headmaster’s Parade starts at 2 p.m. on campus and gives the Headmaster an opportunity to inspect each Cadet in their uniform. Yesterday, the boys were busy preparing, polishing, and shining their buttons and shoes in anticipation of the parade, which is an important day for the Cadets to put their best foot forward. Awards and presentations will also be handed out.
The highlight of the Cadet calendar is Cadet Inspection, celebrating 114 years on Saturday, May 4. Hundreds of parents, family members, and guests are expected on campus (or indoors in the La Brier Family Arena in case of inclement weather) along with some important dignitaries. The reviewing officer this year is Capt. Charles Scot-Brown, a Second World War veteran who served with the 48th Highlanders of Canada, the Gordon Highlanders, and the 1st British Para Battalion.
Here is the itinerary for the day:
Musical prelude by the Symphonic Band at 12:30 p.m.
Musical Tattoo begins on campus at 1 p.m.
Annual Cadet Inspection begins at 2 p.m.
Refreshments for Cadets and guests in the Staunton Gallery at 3:30 p.m.
