SAC’s Director of Music, Sandi Chasson, is heading up the 2019 Conference of Independent School Music Festival (CISMF).
In total, 35 schools will be represented this year at the festival, taking place Sunday, April 7 at Roy Thomson Hall in downtown Toronto. St. Andrew’s is sending 32 musicians to participate, and they will be among 1,500 students attending. All participants auditioned for the honour of performing.
This is the 35th year for the CISMF. Ms Chasson said the festival is the result of four intensive rehearsal days that took place at St. Andrew’s, Holy Trinity School, and The Country Day School.
Ms Chasson served on the 25-member audition committee that also included SAC teachers Eric McMillan, Garry Page, and John Richardson.
The festival program was designed by Head of Art, Stephen Kimmerer, and the cover design, shown at right, is by Tom Hu ’21.
St. Andrew’s is the 2019 winner of the CIS Winter Classic “Breezin’ Thru Theory” music theory contest, now in its sixth year.
This week-long online competition ended Tuesday, March 5 with SAC music students coming out on top in the Rhythm Rocks Game. This is our first win in this contest and we will be presented with a trophy at the CISMF on April 7.
