A Brief History of Nordic Skiing at SAC

Nordic Skiing has been a part of St. Andrew’s College for many years. In the early days of the school, students earned a ski badge for skiing the distance from St. Andrew’s to East Gwillimbury and back before breakfast. Today, the Nordic team has become a highly competitive team both in the CISAA league and OFSAA league championships. In addition, students can take part in the Biathlon team, combining Nordic skate skiing and marksmanship, and race in the Area and Provincial Championships organized by the Cadet program. The ski team has grown incredibly over the last five years to become a strong race team of 18 skiers. In 2003, the senior team won the CISAA championship and in 2008, our first skiers in recent history attended the OFSAA Championships. In 2010, the team won the Silver medal in the Senior Boys Team race and the Gold medal in the Junior Boys category.
