Instrumental Band Leader

St. Andrew’s College invites applications for a one-year, part-time Instrumental Band Leader for the 2026-2027 academic year. Reporting to the Deputy Head of School, this position offers a unique opportunity to support the vibrant Upper School Music program at SAC. This role will begin in late August and conclude in June 2027.
 
Responsibilities will include: 
  • To work with our Symphonic Band, consisting of students in Grades 9 and 10
  • Conduct band rehearsals (full ensemble, sectionals, and small groups)
  • Integrate performance, composition, and theory
  • Assist with planning and leading concerts and school events
  • Collaborate with the Music Department
 
Key qualifications:
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in several band instruments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
  • OCT certification or equivalent preferred
  • Experience directing ensembles
  • Experience teaching instrumental music at the senior school level
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, pedagogy, and ensemble techniques
