Student Life

At St. Andrew’s we pride ourselves in providing an education that reaches beyond the classroom and the sports fields. Our students are well-respected leaders in our community and we hope to foster a greater understanding of the wider world and our responsibility to others through our interactions at the school. We feel a great responsibility in our unique boys-only environment to train the leaders of the future in all areas of life.

Emanating from the Assistant Headmaster of Student Life’s office is all activity that helps to foster growth in the areas of spirit and heart. We have developed a comprehensive leadership development program within the school and through our now 105-year-old Cadet Program. Also advisory program matches students with teachers who care about each young man’s future and the program works proactively to develop life skills and guides students through their academics.

This year, in conjunction with the Director of Residential Life, David Galajda, we are introducing a new Social Awareness Curriculum which will run through Chapel, assemblies, the advisory program and the residences, and will provide the school with a moral weather-vane throughout the academic year. The three themes of the Social Awareness Curriculum for this year are: Term one – Embracing Diversity; Term two – Health and Wellness; Term three – Ethical Decision Making. We feel very strongly here at the school that this is a necessary part of a St. Andrew’s education.

I look forward to another fabulous school year in a very vibrant and energetic student-centred St. Andrew’s College.
