Posted: June 11, 2012

After a narrow defeat to number one seeded Hagersville High School in the OFSAA Lacrosse A/AA playoffs (11-7 for Hagersville), the St. Andrew’s Saints College Varsity Lacrosse team faced-off against Peterborough’s Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School (TASS) in the consolation finals.

The two teams had met the day before in a tightly contested match in which the Saints posted a 9-8 win. There was every expectation that TASS would be looking to avenge that loss. But as the game began, the Saints came on strong and by the end of the first quarter were ahead 4-2.

Playing strong, the Saints held the lead for the remainder of the game and by the third quarter they had put the game out of reach for TASS.

As he did throughout the tournament, Nick Fournier providing stellar goaltending. The game’s highlight was Keaton Ward’s 1 goal and 6 assists, for a total of 7 points. Other scorers for the Saints were Brennan de Langley (3 goals, 2 assists), Jamal Kett (3 goals), C.J. Sifton (2 goals), Devon de Langley (1 goal, 1 assist), and Curtis Harvey (1 goal).

In the end, the Saints walked away with an 11-6 win and the tournament’s bronze medal. Congratulations to the Saints, and to three of the team’s graduating seniors who all had outstanding seasons: co-captains Brennan de Langley, Jamal Kett, and James Lappin.
