Spring Sports Recap

It has been quite a spring for athletics. While fielding our usual 20 spring teams along with house league and intramurals, we won several CISAA medals and advanced to OFSAA provincial championships in Rugby, Lacrosse, Track & Field, and Badminton.

The Lacrosse team posted a 4-1 record at OFSAA and came away with the OFSAA bronze medal. The 1st Rugby and Soccer teams have opened their respective events with wins and continue to compete through to June 9.

First Rugby won both the CAIS National Championship and then the CISAA Championship in a thrilling 10-0 win over Appleby. The Track & Field team were CISAA Champions in the Midget age group, and individual gold and silver medals were earned in 1st, U16 and U14 Badminton, 1st Tennis, and Triathlon.

Several teams finished second in the CISAA including 1st Lacrosse, 1st Tennis, U16 Badminton and U14 rugby. 1st Baseball, 1st Cricket and U14 Badminton had CISAA third-place finishes, while the Baseball team also won the annual SAC tournament.

The following is a list of MIP and MVP recipients at last week’s 2012 Spring Athletic Assembly, including the 22 students who were recognized for their contributions to three 1st teams this year.
