The Parents Guild of St. Andrew's College
Executive Committee, 2009-2010

On behalf of the Parents Guild Executive for 2009-2010, I would like to extend a warm welcome to both new and returning parents, I hope to meet many of you throughout the year.

The St. Andrew’s College Ladies Guild was renamed the St. Andrew’s College Parents Guild in June 2009. After discussion and surveying the SAC community, the name change was voted on and passed by the Ladies Guild members at the June 2009 AGM.  The Mission Statement remains the same:

The St. Andrew’s College Parents Guild is constituted for the enhancement of student life in all its diversity, to foster Andrean community spirit, and to provide scholarship and bursary assistance to the current students of St. Andrew’s College.

To the day boy and boarding parents from around the world, we welcome each and every one of you into the SAC community and invite you to become actively involved by volunteering through the Parents Guild, or simply enjoy some of the many activities and programs in which the School and the Parents Guild jointly participate, some of which are listed below

  • New Family Orientation Day (Tuesday, September 8th, 2009)
  • The “SAC Rack” (the sale of gently used uniforms, Thursday, September 3rd, 2009)
  • Homecoming (a fun event for the whole family, Saturday, September 26th, 2009)
  • MacPherson Hockey Tournament (an annual SAC tradition, January 15th to 17th, 2010)
  • Red & White Gala (the theme of this year’s not to be missed event is “Under the Tuscan Sun”, Saturday, April 17th, 2010)
  • Grade Rep Parents (who will keep you informed and apprised by email of upcoming school events and messages)
  • Granting Programs (available to student groups which enrich student life in the fields of athletics, arts,  academics and community service and; individual grants for SAC-sponsored trips)
  • Family Mentor Program (which assists new families with the transition into the Andrean Community
  • Holiday Poinsettia Sales
  • Social and Welcome Events throughout the year
  • Open Houses
  • Baking for students and student sponsored events

This represents a variety of activities where the Parents Guild plays a key role and makes a difference to student life at SAC. But the real difference comes from the dedicated and committed group of volunteers we are fortunate to work with each year.  All SAC parents are members of the Parents Guild and we hope you will join us and experience the joys of volunteering. We have volunteer opportunities for men and women, during the day or evening, big and small, something for everyone. If you are interested, please contact our Volunteer Chair – Mary Whitelaw at mwhitelaw@bell.blackberry.net or click here to view and print the "Volunteer Opportunities Form".

Wishing you and your family a wonderful year, and we look forward to meeting you at one of the many upcoming school events.

Warm regards,

Ludi Grant
