Major Events

Here is a glimpse of the major events and traditions that celebrate success, excellence, and community at St. Andrew's College.

The depth and diversity of our major events give a sense of the great opportunities our school offers young men.

Homecoming is a special day in the fall term when we welcome our Old Boys and parents both past and present to a momentous day of athletics, family fun and celebration. Alumni in anniversary years are invited to return with their classmates for special reunions hosted by the school.

The SAC Dramatic Society's production each year draws rave reviews. Directed by Head of Drama William Scoular, the production plays to the school community on campus for three evenings, and a matinee performance for students at other area schools. Tickets sell quickly so be sure to order yours early!

The annual Carol Service is held at Yorkminister Park Church in Toronto and showcases the School’s wonderfully talented musicians and singers. The church holds more than 2,000 people and is generally filled to capacity to enjoy the end of the first term in an interfaith celebration of Christmas music.

Yorkminister Park Baptist Church is located at 1585 Yonge Street, just north of St. Clair Avenue in Toronto. For more information contact the school at 905-727-3178.

The School’s annual MacPherson Hockey Tournament is a highlight of the winter term. It was established in 1984 and features eight top high school teams from across Canada and the U.S. vying for the Cup. Special alumni events are also held throughout the weekend.

Cadets in Concert is a musical tribute performed by our boys and some of their instructors and teachers each February. Pipes and Drums, the Jazz Band and Concert Bands help create an evening of wonderful individual musical talent, and provide a spine-tingling event that is not to be missed!

The annual Red and White Gala is an exciting evening with a fabulous auction, dinner, entertainment and dance. The talented musicians in the school's Jazz Band and String Quartet entertain the guests during the reception, and the boys also donate amazing artwork to the auction. This gala is the Ladies Guild's major fundraiser, benefiting scholarships, bursaries and student life programs for the boys of St. Andrew's College.  Please check the Ladies Guild web page for the date and more information.

Focus Festival of the Arts is a three day festival of plays, visual arts, music and social events for students, parents and guests. Boys who have never been involved in drama or on the stage before are encouraged to participate by writing their own plays, directing, producing or acting in performances large and small.

The Annual Cadet Inspection of the #142nd St. Andrew’s College Highland Cadet Corps began in 1905 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in the spring of 2005. The event, in which all students participate, is a huge demonstration of teamwork and discipline. It is the third of three major Cadet events, following the Church Parade in Aurora, and the Headmaster’s Parade held on Campus. Dileas Gu Brath (Faithful Forever) is the motto of the Corps.

Prize Day is the culmination of our academic year, and features many awards and prizes earned by our students. There are two ceremonies, one for the Middle School and one for the Upper School. The latter highlights the graduation of our young men to Old Boys of St. Andrew’s College.
